Hi guys, I've got the HT-S3305 Kit and absolutely bloody hate it - it sounds bad (from a brief test run on FIFA - it almost sounded like the commentary was distorted), the rear speakers don't work and it doesn't pass through if the thing is turned off. I'm going to try and refrain from just throwing it in the bin, but I'm wondering. Is there anyway around these problems? The rear speakers are definitely connected fine but both on my Acer Revo with Win 7, and my Xbox 360, not a single piece of audio comes out from the rear speakers.

Hate hate hate. Any suggestions on how to get this sounding a bit better and please how to get my rear audio working? Come on mate, at least read the manual Ok, SP/AB means you're selecting Speakers A or Speakers B.
Speakers A mean for your proper 5.1 set-up. Speakers B are for two speakers that can be setup in another room. You shouldn't need SP-B. A lot of people make the following mistake: During setup they plug their speakers accidently into the Speaker B sockets, so double check you've plugged the speakers into the A sockets. (I'm pretty sure you've wrongly plugged them into speakers B).
As for the Xbox360, are you using HDMI or a digital optical out? Make sure in your actual 360 settings you've set the sound as the 5.1 option. In the receiver settings, on your remote where you can switch between stuff like 'Pro logic II, Neo 6 cinema, Mono etc' you leave it set to 'direct'.
(The Dolby Digital light should light up on the receiver's display). I don't know anything about connecting it to windows. Let me know how it goes. A good game to test is Halo Reach (/ODST/COD etc).' Direct' means that it'll output the sound directly without any processing etc, so you'll get the proper DD or DTS track.
Huge thanks for the reply supersonic - will check I've got the speakers plugged into socket A and also ensure it's set to A instead of SP/AB! I'm using HDMI for the 360, but have set it to 5.1 in the options. I'll check to ensure the receiver is set to 'direct' too One thing I did try earlier was to swap the cable for the rear with the front, but then neither worked which puzzled me. Will have another go at it in a couple of days - staying with my parents now unfortunately so won't get a chance to test anything!
