Cookie and company hold a massive Free Lucious rally three months after Lucious's arrest, that attracts a ton of fans. Cookie invites investor Mimi Whiteman to the rally in hopes that she will invest the $250 million needed for Cookie to take over Empire from Lucious. In prison, Lucious talks with Cookie's cousin Jemele, who informs him that Frank Gathers is headed to their prison.

Lucious meets up with Frank and the two have a courteous exchange. Jamal is overwhelmed with his responsibilities as the new head of Empire and when he goes to visit his father, it's clear that Lucious is basically running Empire through Jamal. Frank meets with Jemele and accuses him of killing his boy Teddy McNally.

Later, Jemele calls Cookie and warns her that she may be in danger. He also goes to Lucious and asks for protection, but Lucious isn't interested. Cookie brings Mimi to a party at Hakeem's house, to persuade her once more to invest in Empire. Mimi takes a liking to Anika at the party and Cookie hopes she can persuade her. Jamal is hoping to reconcile with Michael, who is looking to give him an award at an LGBT ceremony. Unfortunately, after meeting some of the other people who would be in attendance, Jamal decides to cancel his appearance.

After visiting with the DA who is looking to bring him down, Lucious hears Frank's daughter rapping in the visitor's hall and is impressed. After Mimi buys the controlling interest in Empire, Cookie and company think they have finally taken over Empire but it is soon revealed that Lucious met with Mimi and he offered her a better deal. When Jemele reveals that Cookie is the one who snitched on Frank, he kills Jemele and sends his severed head to Cookie. She gathers up the family to meet at Lucious's house, while she goes to see Lucious.

She asks him to protect their family from Frank. Lucious meets with Frank who tells him that his beef is with Cookie, not him.

Lucious tells him that if he has beef with Cookie, then he has beef with him. Franks asks some fellow inmates to kill Lucious, but he's surprised to learn that Lucious has turned them against Frank. Lucious leaves as the men beat on Frank and he cries out in pain.

Lucious Lyon's tale is one of rags-to-riches. Once a lowly dope-man and petty criminal, Lyon and his wife, Cookie, have risen to the top of the music industry. Now, blessed with three strong sons and immeasurable fortune, Lyon is beset on all sides by new foes and familiar woes: greed, avarice, and now, an aging man with a terminal disease, mortality. As Lucious struggles to secure his thrown and determine who will retain control of Empire Records as his health slowly fails him, he finds that fame and power are a threat not only to his business, but to his family as well.

3 months ago When the secret about Lucious' memory is exposed, Cookie attempts to convince the board that he is fine by inviting the press to watch him produce the first 20 for 20 album. Eddie Barker (guest star Forest Whitaker) jumps in to help Lucious get back in his groove and make music in the studio. Just as Andre's feelings for Detective Pamela Rose (guest star Teyonah Parris) intensify, she reveals information that's been uncovered regarding the explosion. Meanwhile, Hakeem worries about his secret involvement with the DuBois family and Claudia (guest star Demi Moore) helps Lucious with a breakthrough. 4 months ago The race is on when Cookie announces that the number one album for Empire's 20-For-20 will be a competition between all of the label's top artists, giving Jamal a bold idea for his newest song.

On the heels of Bella's first birthday, the family plans a special 'Prince and Princesses'-themed birthday party, including a special Prince tribute, but the special day brings back haunting memories for one of the Lyons. Meanwhile, Lucious is at a crossroads, as he tries to put to rest the anger from his past life.

5 months ago In celebration of Empire's 20th Anniversary, Lucious makes his first public appearance since the explosion in Las Vegas, but still has no memory of his family, Empire or his life before the accident. A devastated Cookie struggles to rebuild her relationship with him, while keeping a close eye on his nurse, Claudia (guest star Demi Moore). Meanwhile, Andre is faced with an investigation by the LAPD surrounding the night of the explosion, Diana DuBois (guest star Phylicia Rashad) continues her war against the Lyons and the worlds of EMPIRE and STAR collide when Carlotta (guest star Queen Latifah) comes face-to-face with Cookie and Lucious. 'Empire' to Put Production on Hold Empire is not the ratings monster it once was, but it's still a solid performer for Fox. That's why there's no reason to be alarmed at the news that the show's writers have asked for brief pause in production so that they can work on the second half of the season.

Such a break is not unusual, and the series' producers say that the production hiatus will not affect the air schedule for the back half of the season. Via The Hollywood Reporter. Empire is pressing the pause button. The hip-hop drama is set to take a production hiatus to plot the back-half of its current fourth season. A post shared by Empire (@empirefox) on Nov 6, 2017 at 11:00am PST The break would not impact the show's on-air schedule, as Empire normally takes a several-month-long break in the middle of the TV season following the fall finale, which is expected to air sometime in December. This is old practice for the 20th Century Fox Television drama, which has instituted a similar break on every other season of the heavily serialized drama, starring Taraji.

Henson and Terrence Howard. While ratings have dipped from the show's breakout first season, Empire continues to rank as the network's top drama. Get the rest of the story at The Hollywood Reporter. 'Empire' Turns in Series-Low Ratings The long road to the end of the broadcast season is going to generate some bummer headlines for a few TV powerhouses. Empire nabbed another same-day series low on Wednesday, dropping another three-tenths of a ratings point from last week's low. It averaged a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49. And while that was enough to keep it as the night's highest-rated show, it was outwatched by Survivor, Criminal Minds and Chicago P.D. With 6.3 million viewers.

Fox still won the night, with Shots Fired pulling a 0.9 rating in the key demo, but fatigue is evident in the flagship. Empire joins the much more senior Big Bang Theory in its late-season lows. Speaking of series lows, Modern Family logged one as well. The ABC comedy was also down three-tenths of a point, averaging a 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 in between steady episodes of Speechless and Black-ish (1.3 adults).

The Goldbergs was ABC's second-biggest of the night with a 1.5 rating in the key demo. (Designated Survivor earned a flat 1.1 rating in the key demo.) The entire first season of Empire (which seems like decades ago at this point) was centered on Lucious Lyon slowly dying of ALS and having to choose a son to be his successor. But as it turns out, Lucious has myasthenia gravis instead, which is not as severe as ALS, and things are mostly fine. Until now, that is. Will Lucious Lyon die on Empire?

Previews for future episodes show him in critical condition. According to Myasthenia.org, myasthenia gravis is “a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that is characterized by fluctuating weakness of the voluntary muscle groups.” That explains why doctors thought that Lucious’ muscle weakness was ALS and not MG, but it doesn’t explain (yet, at least) why Lucious is in bed with a breathing apparatus strapped to his face.

Empire

My guess is that his MG is acting up, because the myasthenia website lists “difficulty breathing” as one of the common symptoms, along with “weakness in the arms and legs” and “chronic muscle fatigue.” Lucious is in bed, and he can’t breathe, so I’m going to take the medical degree I earned watching every episode of E. And Grey’s Anatomy and say this MG could be the case. Drama, because I’ve seen everything. It could also be lupus, because on House, M.D., lupus was always an option. Rumer Willis Mixes Music, Acting on 'Empire' When Rumer Willis’ Tory Ash debuted in Empire’s midseason premiere, it didn’t take long for her troubled past to surface. Introduced as Jamal’s (Jussie Smollett) newest and closest confidant rehab, both Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Cookie (Taraji P.

Henson) quickly began discussing her Heroin-induced meltdown that led to her stripping naked at Fenway Park before she was later found in a coma in a seedy motel. “She was a big star, brilliant too,” Cookie said. “But that heroin knocked her ass right out of the sky.” It’s a story that is unfortunately rings all too familiar in the music business, with heroin overdoses claiming the lives of Dee Dee Ramone, Sid Vicious and Janis Joplin, among many others. However, Willis says it was a much more recent figure that drew her to the recurring part.

“I was on tour, and I had a layover day in New York. My agents had reached out to me and said, ‘Hey, there’s this role on Empire to do this Amy Winehouse-type rock star,” Willis tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I was like, ‘I don’t need to see anything else. I’m going in.

I don’t care if I’m tired.’” Read the rest of this article at The Hollywood Reporter. Empire Music Video: Get Me Right Ft. Nessa Watch Nessa's performance of 'Get Me Right' is interrupted by Hakeem and Tiana.

About Show: EMPIRE is a powerful drama about a family dynasty set within the glamorous and sometimes dangerous world of hip-hop music. The show revolves around the Lyon family and their media company, Empire Entertainment. The founder, LUCIOUS LYON (Terrence Howard), is the king of hip-hop, but his company and reign are constantly threatened by his family, including his ex-wife, COOKIE LYON (Taraji P. Henson); his sons, JAMAL (Jussie Smollett), HAKEEM (Bryshere “Yazz” Gray) and ANDRE (Trai Byers); and a volatile and competitive music industry.

TV Ratings: 'Empire' Holds Strong in Return After 'Shots Fired' Premiere Fox took home its first nightly victory in a while thanks to the return of 'Empire'. The series, coming off a three-month hiatus that saw 'This Is Us' pass it to become the top drama on broadcast, was unmoved in its midseason opener. It averaged a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.9 million viewers. Both of those numbers marked incremental improvement from December. Season to date, Empire has averaged a 4.6 rating among adults 18-49 and 12.5 million viewers once live-plus-seven ratings are factored in, though multiplatform views have it even higher.
