Colors for Fashion shows how fashion drawing can be developed to the highest level, one where the drawing will give a realistic impression of the look and feel of the finished garment, in color. Colors for Fashion show how to draw fashion using colored markers, now accepted as the best medium for drawing fashion. Colors for Fashion includes detailed illustrated sections on how to use markers, color theory and composition in fashion drawing, drawing garments of different fabrics, skin tone, make up and hair, step by step drawing garments for beginners, women's, men's and children's fashion and how to use Photoshop to personalize drawings. Colors for Fashion is an updated and much-revised successor to Colors for Modern Fashion by the same author, used extensively in college courses around the world for the last decade.

Or at least, this is one half of it. Nancy Riegelman is amazing and this book has been really helpful. But if you want to focus on working on actual figure drawing and proportions then her other book, 9 Heads will be more useful. This book covers using markers in fashion illustration. And even if markers aren't your medium, it does cover colour theory and illustration techniques. It also has a range of illustrations from big brands such as Dior and Gaultier to smaller, less well known designers and talks about what techniques were used in each illustration. My one critique is that it would be more helpful if she included more croquis in the appendix.

But as I said, this book is for markers in fashion illustration rather than figure drawing. 9 Heads would be more suited if you want to draw your own figures rather than base it off a croquis template.
